slajd2Maciej Zakrzewski, organist, composer, improviser, assistant profesor at the Stanislaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk, organ teacher at Music School in Gdansk.

He graduated with honors from Academy of Music in Gdansk, where he studied the organ under the tutelage of Professor Roman Perucki and dr Hanna Dys. He has participated in many organ and composition competitions. He has won first prize at the 7th J. P. Sweelinck International Organ Competition and fourth prize in the „Premio Elvira di Renna” International Organ Competition in Italy. In 2010 he received the „Golden Laurel for Young Organist” at the 33rd International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music in Giżycko.
Together with his ensemble „Concitato” won first prize at the 7th International Festival of Early Music in Malbork.

In his career Maciej Zakrzewski has actively participated in numerous master classes, having had opportunity to work with such splendid organists including Olivier Latry, Pieter van Dijk, Wolfgang Zerer, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Helmut Deutsch, Martin Hoselbeck, Pierre Damiano Peretti. He has also participated in master classes of improvisation under the direction of Pierre Pincemaille, Tomasz Adam Nowak.

Maciej Zakrzewski co- operates on a regular basis with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, Polish Chamber Orchestra, The PROGRESS Chamber Orchestra, Elblag Chamber Orchesra and „Discantus” Chamber Choir with whom he recorded „Kashubian Mass” composed by Michał Sławecki. He took part in the recording of Mozart's Church Sonatas conducted by Maxim Vengerov. This year will be released on his solo album with music by Liszt, Widor at famous organ in Oliva.

He is now an assistant professor at the Music Academy in Gdansk and organ teacher in the Secondary Music School in Gdansk. Maciej Zakrzewski was also an organist of Radio Masses transmitted from St. Bridget Basilica in Gdansk. He is vice-chairman of The Pomeranian Association "Musica Giovane" which organizes Malbork Organ Festiwal. He was nominated  for the City of Gdansk Award for Young Artist in the Field of Culture 2009, and a year later for the „Pomeranian Griffin Award” in the category „Pomeranian Artistic Hope”. In 2010 he was nominated for the prize of Gdansk „Splendor Gedanensis” for taking part in a number of artistic events in Pomerania. Maciej Zakrzewski performs as a solist and chamber musican in the country and abroad.
